SAFETY RECALL NOTICE STOP SALE COMMUNICATION Date: April 26, 2022 To: All U.S. Maserati Dealers Subject: Safety Recall 501 – MY 2022 Maserati MC20 vehicles. Effective immediately, the vehicles listed on MODIS for this campaign recall must not be delivered to customers. The subject vehicles are included in a voluntary safety recall related to certain tail lamp assemblies installed in the rear part of the vehicle causing the stop lamps to flicker under certain braking conditions, which may cause confusion to drivers following the vehicles, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. For vehicles in the recall the component labels will have to be inspected, and if necessary, to replace the tail lamp assemblies. Maserati intends to notify owners on or before 06/03/2022 to schedule appointments to have their vehicles fixed. The remedy for this condition is currently available. Dealers will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication methods. This recall is estimated to launch on or before June 3, 2022. Please be reminded that it is a violation of Federal law for you to deliver a new motor vehicle covered by this notification under a sale or lease until the defect is remedied. Violation of this requirement by could result in a civil penalty of up to $21,000 per vehicle. You must correct all vehicles in your new vehicle inventory before delivery. IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL INFORMATION 1 May 5, 2022 NHTSA Recall#: 22V265 Maserati Campaign#: 501 Dear Maserati Dealer: This notification is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Maserati S.p.A. and Maserati North America, Inc. (MNA), have decided that a noncompliance to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment, exists in 2022 Model Year Maserati MC20 vehicles. Maserati S.p.A. and MNA have determined that the above-described vehicles were potentially manufactured with faulty rear tail lamp assemblies that flicker under certain braking conditions. A brake lamp that flickers during braking may cause confusion to drivers following the vehicle, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. The remedy is to inspect, and if necessary, replace, the tail lamp assemblies on the affected vehicles. The remedy will be performed free of charge to the vehicle owner. We will, of course, reimburse you for the labor necessary to carry out this recall campaign. The necessary components for this recall are currently available to dealers, and owners will be directed to call their dealers for repairs. Maserati dealers must ensure safety recalls are completed after having been notified by MNA that a safety-related defect or noncompliance exists in any motor vehicle or item of replacement equipment in the dealer’s possession at the time of notification. The Safety Act also prohibits dealers from selling or leasing the motor vehicle or item of replacement equipment, unless and until the open safety recall has been completed BEFORE delivery. Under the terms of the Certified Pre-Owned (“CPO”) program, CPO vehicles with an open safety recall may not be sold or delivered to the consumer. Finally, MNA dealers should not sell or use parts that have been recalled by MNA. Please follow the specific instructions provided by MNA on the return or disposition of the parts. Compare the production date and time stamped on each Tail-Lamp Label to the “MC20 Tail-Lamp Production Date Chart” to identify if either one or both of the Tail-Lamps needs to be replaced. 6. The “Day, Month, Year, Hour, Minute and Seconds” stamped on the Label(s) ALL together must MATCH the “Day, Month, Year, Hour, Minute and Seconds” in the “MC20 Tail-Lamp Production Date Chart” to qualify replacement. If they all match then replace the affected Tail-Lamp. NOTE: If any one of the Date or Time values on either Label do not MATCH the Chart, then the affected Tail-Lamp does not need to be replaced.
